Title of the presentation: The Implications of AI for Tourism Research Ethics

In many industries and fields, including tourism and research (and tourism research), professionals are learning through trial and error what the benefits, limitations and dangers are of the widespread utilisation of AI. Most current research ethics frameworks are underequipped to provide clear and consistent guidance on this issue. With tourism (still) being an industry that focuses on the quality of meaningful experiences and social interactions, retaining those human-centered priorities while also capitalising on the potential of the AI evolution is a key challenge. This presentation will explore several pitfalls to avoid and opportunities to explore in tourism research ethics specifically.
