IFITT Awards were presented to the winners during ENTER2018 eTourism conference in Jönköping (Sweden).

Each year, IFITT proudly awards innovative technology-savvy organizations working in the eTourism field, as well as outstanding research contributions.

In 2018 awards in nine different categories were presented during the gala dinner on Thursday, 25 January 2018.

IFITT Hannes Werthner Tourism and Technology Lifetime Achievement Award
The Hannes Werthner Tourism and Technology Lifetime Achievement Award is given to an individual from academia, industry or government, who has made significant contributions to the advancement of the field/practice of tourism and technology.

The winner of 2018 award is professor Andrew Frew, Queen Margaret University (UK).

The Thesis Excellence Award awards students who successfully defended their theses in the field of tourism and technology between October 1, 2016 and September 30, 2017.
Category Master thesis: Edoardo Cantoni, Università della Svizzera italiana – USI (CH), for his thesis “Teenagers’ Perception of Canton Ticino through the Official Destination Website: an Eye Tracking Investigation”.
Category PhD thesis: Daniel Leung, MODUL University Vienna (Austria), for his thesis “Predicting usefulness of electronic word-of-mouth in the information-overload age: A mixed-method study”.
